Keep your Business separate from your personal business ! Create a Fan Page. People who are not Facebook members can view a Fan Page, even Facebook members can view a Fan page while not logged into Facebook.
You can acquire an unlimited amount of “Fans” with a Fan Page vs a maximum of 5000 friends with a Personal Profile.
Facebook prohibits Businesses from promoting their business on Personal Pages

Linkedin is a business oriented social networking service, mainly used for professional networking. With more than 300 Million users total, 93 million in the U.S. alone. Linkedin allows its users ( workers and employers ) to create profiles and connections to each other.
Users can find jobs, people, and business opportunities. Employers can list jobs to search for potential candidates.
Job seekers can review profiles of hiring managers and discover who in their contacts can introduce them to that particular manager.
Users can 'like" and "congratulate" each others updates and employments, they can also see who has visited their profile page.
Users can also endorse other users as per their specific skills.
